Agentic AI Melbourne - October 2026

Proudly supported by Optimising, OpenAI, BlueRock & AI Dojo, & Union.ai
Agentic AI Melbourne is back this October, bringing together Melbourne's engineers and builders who are actually shipping things with AI agents.
It's run by the Melbourne chapter of the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), a community building agentic AI in the open under the Linux Foundation. Optimising is sponsoring the food and drinks for this one, alongside OpenAI and Union.ai.
This is a builders' meetup, not a marketing event. Expect working demos, honest lessons from people who've hit the walls already, and no vendor pitches.
What's on
There's one main talk and three lightning talks lined up:
- How to Build Your Own AI Agent with goose - Lifei Zhou, Software Engineer at Block
- So You Want to Ship an MCP Server? - Jeffrey Aven, Founder of StackQL
- The 1000x Junior Developer - Zach Jensz, Software Engineer at Method Recruitment Group
- Are we at AGI yet? - Chris Rickard, Founder of Userdoc
Before and after the talks there's time to meet and compare notes with others working on agents and AI in Melbourne, and from around 8:00pm the group heads off to an after-event social.
Who it's for
Registration is required and reviewed before being accepted, so make sure you complete all the questions. To be eligible, you need to be either:
- A software developer or engineer (current or former) working with agents, or
- Someone who has built something with AI agents and can tell the organisers what you built
