In the battle between Google + and Facebook, we've seen some cool developments from both platforms in recent months. Facebook, have been quietly rolling out a heap of new features of late which really help them to stay up to date with the competition.
This week they have introduced the ability to 'Subscribe' to users, and more importantly, choose what you want to 'subscribe' to. Until now, it hasn't been easy to choose exactly what you see in your News Feed. Maybe you don't want to see every time your brother plays a game on Facebook, for example.
Or maybe you'd like to see more stories from your best friends, and fewer from your coworkers. With the Subscribe button, we're making it easier to do both. In the next few days, you'll start seeing this button on friends' and others' profiles. You can use it to:
To let people subscribe, go to the Subscriptions Page and click Allow Subscribers. Once you allow subscribers, you can decide who can comment and what notifications you get. You'll also see a Subscribers tab on your profile, where you can see who subscribes to you.
Is this latest Facebook update a game changer? Maybe not, but its certainly a sign that Facebook is listening and moving with the times. Cudos Mr Zuccerberg!
