Sending Large Files Online
Posted on January 01, 2014
Quite often these days you are required to send large files to someone when building a website. This includes sending Photoshop design files, Illustrator files, product photos, website content etc. The old (painful) method involved copying your files to a USB key, and sending it to the person via snail mail. There are now a multitude of online tools that can help you to speed up this task.
This is great free tool for sending files under 100MB to someone. You can also upgrade your account for a monthly fee to allow you to send individual files as large as 2GB (!) and some other more advanced features. [YouSendIt]
If you have FTP access to your own website hosting, you can easily upload files and send someone the direct link to the file/folder. You should avoid sending any confidential files using this method though as any files be accessible by anyone that can find the link to it.
This free tool is growing very quickly in popularity. Dropbox has some other great features which we won't go into here, but for the aim of just sending a large file online, it is quite easy to upload and share with someone. You can also upload a bunch of files, and share the whole folder with different users. [Dropbox]
