3 Reasons we're going to Pubcon Vegas for the 3rd time

I don't go to many conferences. Australian conferences in our industry tend to be light in content and speakers, and high in terms of price - not a great mix in terms of value and use of time. On the other side of the world, the USA, has a plethora of options for online marketers which are filled with great speakers, sessions, and networking opportunities. It's all of these reasons, that next month I'll be headed over to Las Vegas for my third visit to Pubcon. In my opinion, Pubcon is the premier Online Marketing event in the world - and it would be a detriment to our customers, and ourselves to miss it. What makes Pubcon so much better than all the other Online Marketing events out there? 1. Learnings from peers and some great key takeaways Each year we go to Pubcon, we are looking to improve our processes, and learn some new techniques and ideas from industry leaders such as Matt Cutts, Scott StrattenJason Calacanis, and Ash Nallawalla.

In years gone by, I would take pages and pages of notes, not wanting to miss a single thing or idea. These days, I find that going in with the objective to find 5 GREAT takeaways from the conference is the best way to look at it. If you can find just a few things, you are more likely able implement all of them and have the most impact. 2. Networking opportunities outside of our usual circles Melbourne is a small place. We know most of the other SEO companies in our city by name. That being so, networking opportunities in our city are somewhat limited, and all being direct competitors, people can sometimes not be so willing to help and share between us. Heading to Las Vegas opens up a whole new world in terms of meeting like minded peers, sharing business ideas, and even possibility of referring customers to one another. (This is one of our objectives when we head over - although not something that is a direct aim). 3. Getting out of our usual environment I find that I have the best ideas for business improvement & process changes, new products, and expansion ideas, whilst I am out of the office in a new environment. Going to a conference like Pubcon gives you the time to really think about your business, analyse what other people are doing, and come back to your business refreshed, and full of ideas and motivation.
