# Our 2015 Small Business Festival presentation: SEO for startups

Going back a few months now, Optimising were lucky enough to be invited back to speak at the \[Victorian Small Business Festival\](http://www.business.vic.gov.au/events-workshops-and-mentoring/victorias-small-business-festival).

The festival is a chance for small business owners to learn more about many aspects of running their business in an open environment, for free!

The [Optimising team](https://www.optimising.com.au/about/) gave two presentations at this years festival:

## SEO for Online Startups

This session focused on the basics of SEO that a new online business would need to take care of.

## Advanced Link Building Techniques

This session focused on some of the more advanced link building tactics we use internally for our clients, and provided actionable techniques that attendees could implement in their own businesses.

For the 2nd year in a row, both sessions sold out very quickly, with 100’s of people on the waiting list - we’re sorry we couldn’t fit you all in!

### James Richardson

Co-Founder

James Richardson is one of the co-founders of Optimising, that he started in 2008. He's spent nearly two decades helping Australian brands get found online, from technical SEO and platform migrations through to AI search. 

Outside work, he's usually on the basketball court or golf course or being comprehensively outsmarted by his three daughters.
