## A Journey to Save an Endangered Species

### Our Environmental Commitment with the Odonata Foundation

At Optimising, we believe in making a positive impact beyond SEO. That's why we're proud to announce our 2025 partnership with the [Odonata Foundation](https://odonata.org.au/), supporting their innovative Recovery Model to protect Australia's threatened species.

### Saving the Eastern Barred Bandicoot

Our support focuses directly on supporting the Eastern Barred Bandicoot, or [Crash](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crash_Bandicoot) as we call them at Optimising, a remarkable marsupial that plays a crucial role in sustaining healthy ecosystems. These small but fearsome creatures are essential for soil health, digging and turning over about 3 tonnes worth of soil every year as they forage for survival.

## Current Challenges and Conservation Status

The Eastern Barred Bandicoot currently faces significant challenges in the wild. Listed as ‘near threatened’ on mainland Australia and ‘vulnerable’ in Tasmania, these animals have been impacted by:

- Habitat loss due to urbanisation
- Agriculture expansion
- Predation by introduced species
- Competition with other herbivores

## Odonata’s Recovery Model

Odonata's Mt Rothwell and Tiverton sanctuaries currently protect approximately 80% of the mainland Eastern Barred Bandicoot population, representing the only stable self-sustaining population in Australia.

Odonata's goal is to secure species recovery by establishing 5 different sites where eastern barred bandicoots can thrive, managed as one genetically diverse population. This approach not only helps protect the species from extinction, but also contributes to broader ecosystem health and biodiversity.

## Our Partnership Impact

Our partnership with Odonata aligns with our values of making meaningful contributions to Australia's environmental future. By supporting the Eastern Barred Bandicoot's recovery, we're helping to:

- Preserve a unique Australian species
- Enhance soil health and biodiversity
- Support natural ecosystem regeneration
- Play a role in combating climate change through conservation-driven rehabilitation
