How do we backup our data now? Mozy Scraps the Unlimited Plan
Posted on January 01, 2014
Backing up your important data should be such an important part of your business, that you should already know this information. I was the unlucky victim of a laptop theft, and lost so much valuable data in the process. Now I never let my files go unbacked up for more than a few hours now. My chosen solution, Mozy, have just proved that the 'unlimited' business model is not sustainable. They previously had an online backup plan for $4.95/month which gave you unlimited space online to back up your files, which has now been scrapped in place of a $5.95/month for 50GB of backup space. Whilst 50GB of backup space still sounds generous, it is not great for existing customers who have been a member for years and are well above this new limit. There are users with well over 250GB of personal data uploaded in the cloud. If you are still seeking a company offering 'unlimited' cloud backups then look at BackBlaze. The question is though, for how much longer will they be able to offer these unlimited plans at such cheap prices?
Got a favourite solution for backing up your data in the cloud we might have missed? We'd love to hear all about it.
